Brayton has received the go-ahead from ARPAe to build and test its 1 kWe combined heat and power generator module. The team passed the highly competitive gate, with a strong technical performance highlighted by component testing. The product maintains very high performance standards in a simple highly reliable configuration. The novel engine employs a special screw compressor coupled with a ceramic screw expander, a very high temperature recuperator, and an ultra-low emission combustor.
