The US ARPAe Agency was created to cultivate new high risk, high reward energy technologies. This newest competitive award seeks to create a class of ultra-high efficiency power blocks for distributed electrical generation. With a target of 70% natural gas to electric conversion efficiency at the 100 kWe power level, this ultra clean power module would make on-site power generation 32% more efficient that the best US power plants, and demonstrate over twice as fuel efficiency of the average US grid power. For this award, Brayton will be working as a subcontractor to Saint Gobain, combining our rotary screw Brayton Cycle with their solid oxide fuel cell.
